Cannabis is Safer than Alcohol

Itsh just a pity the UN & SA can't dishhtinguishhh one from the other...

The only systematic monitoring of drug use in Africa is taking place in South Africa, based on treatment demand. Data for South Africa suggest that treatment demand for cannabis use increased over the first two quarters of 2008.
Including alcohol, cannabis accounted for 23.5% of substance abuse-related treatment demand in South Africa during this period.

Everything consumed or used by humans can be abused. People die from the compulsive consumption of large quantities of alcohol or water, breathing too much oxygen or from driving cars too fast.

The appropriate and safe use of any substance depends on the user's quality of consciousness and ability to make responsible decisions. This in turn is dependant on a host of factors including the availability of information and the prevailing norms of society.

The CIA has little direct influence over individuals who are emotionally disturbed or prone to antisocial behaviour. The SAFER CIA can make a substantial contribution to the development of responsible norms in society, and through sound education programmes can improve the average consumer's decision making skills.

The great majority of people in South Africa who use cannabis do so moderately without damaging consequences. The SAFER CIA aims to ensure that this trend is encouraged.
